In previous post I installed Ubuntu 10.04 @ my old LG T1 Express Dual laptop. Well, I now wiped it again and installed the “new” Crunchbang Linux (#!) 10 “Statler” Alpha 2. Why? I really like the feeling and speed in #!. Almost everything worked OOTB and it feels very stable! The only thing I had to fix was the keyboard layout with this command: sudo dpkg-reconfigure keyboard-configuration

Then today I decided to install Google-Chrome because I prefer it over Iceweasel/Firefox. But I discovered a little problem after downloading and installing the .deb package from Google. When I tried to run google-chrome I got this error:
/usr/bin/google-chrome: error while loading shared libraries: libXss.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

Fixed it with this command: aptitude install libXss1

I tried #! 10 alpha 1 & 2 from time to time but now I will use it a lot more. So far (48h+) this alpha 2 version rocks very solid!

Ubuntu 10.04 @ LG T1 Express laptop

Decided to install Ubuntu 10.04 at one of my old laptops, LG T1 Express Dual. Installed from USB and everything works OOTB except sound. Here is the fix:

Open terminal
Copy/paste this line (and press enter):

sudo nano /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf

Enter your sudo password
Copy the three lines below and paste it in the end of your alsa-base.conf

#fix for lg-t1 laptop
options snd-hda-intel model=lg
options snd-hda-intel power_save=0 power_save_controller=N

Save and close the file (CTRL + O, CTRL + X)
Reboot your laptop and the sound should now work!
